SXSW Gaming is a great way to close out the SXSW Conference and Festivals by exploring new and upcoming games, retro arcades, and even catch a few tournaments. At the end of the expo, gamers and industry professionals can gather together at the 2018 SXSW Gaming Awards Ceremony to see which games come out on top.
This year, SXSW has announced that Alanah Pearce, producer, writer and host at IGN, and Richard Campbell, face of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and esports broadcaster for H1Z1, Hearthstone and Call of Duty World League, will emcee the Gaming Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening, March 17 at 8pm in Austin Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Austin Downtown.
Pearce (otherwise known by her Gamertag, ‘Charalanahzard’) is an Australian writer, host, and producer at IGN in San Francisco. She’s been playing games since she was four, writing about them professionally for seven years, and creating self-admittedly bad YouTube videos as a hobby for five.
Campbell is the face of World of Warcraft, leading all professional broadcasts for Blizzard. He’s internationally involved in the professional Hearthstone scene and is recognized for creating the most popular WoW talk show on Twitch. Outside of Blizzard titles, Rich is also the face of H1Z1 and will be leading all 2018 broadcasts, and is a caster for the Call of Duty World League.
To round out the awards show this year, special guest appearances will be made by The Attack’s host Alex Corea, OMGitsfirefoxx, and Saira Mueller, with intermission performance by Manatee Commune, heralded as Seattle’s best electronic musician and one-man synth, guitar, violin, and percussion artist.
To attend the SXSW Gaming Awards you will need a Saturday or 3-Day SXSW Gaming Wristband, or a SXSW badge, so be sure to purchase your wristband today and make sure you’re there when trophies are handed out in 24 unique categories.
The 2018 SXSW Gaming Awards Ceremony takes place Saturday, March 17, from 8-10pm in the Austin Grand Ballroom on the sixth floor of the Hilton Austin Downtown (500 E 4th St) and will be streamed live on the SXSW Gaming Awards Twitch Channel. The SXSW Gaming Awards are supported by IGN, Onion Creek Productions and Muxy.
Good luck to all of the nominees!
