The Tomb Raider franchise has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity lately. After rebooting the film series with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, the new Tomb Raider film is set to premiere this weekend. Now, Square Enix has confirmed that Croft will be returning to the video game scene in 2018 as well.
According to GameSpot, the next game in the series will be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The game will release officially on September 13, 2018, for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. At least for now, Nintendo Switch players will be left out in the cold.
Beyond the title and release date, there’s not a lot of information given about the game. According to its official website, however, a full reveal is scheduled for April 27. Fans anticipating the game can go ahead and pre-order their copy at the site if they choose to do so as well.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the third game in the series following the “reboot” in 2013. The game successfully rejuvenated the franchise, prompting the 2015 sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider. For most fans of the series, both games were a lot of fun, and this next title already has a lot of gamers excited.
