Better keep quiet — we’re not yet safe from the creatures in A Quiet Place.
After making its theatrical debut at SXSW 2018, it was clear director John Krasinski had a hit on his hands with A Quiet Place. The film stars Krasinski and real life wife Emily Blunt as part of a family trying to survive in a world with deadly, sound-sensitive creatures. It’s a tense and original film unlike any other, which is why we gave it a perfect score in our review.
Earlier this month, the film would have its wide release to massive success. So far, it’s pulled in about $213 million in worldwide ticket sales – not bad at all for an indie horror flick with a budget of $17 million. Certainly, the folks at Paramount are pleased most of all, which is why they’ve already went ahead and moved forward with a sequel.
Variety reports that Paramount chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos took to CinemaCon to confirm an official follow-up film. “We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel,” Gianopulos bluntly stated to everyone in attendance. It might not be the most surprising news, but it’s still nice to hear.
However, no details were given as far as the plot or an expected release date. It’s also unclear whether Krasinski will return to direct and/or appear in the movie. One would hope and assume so, but as of now nothing has been confirmed beyond the fact that a sequel is definitely happening.
A Quiet Place is now playing in theaters worldwide, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you really should.
