Longtime fans of American Horror Story will especially enjoy the next season when it premieres on FX. As the new theme will explore a crossover between Murder House (Season 1) and Coven (Season 3), it will feature a satisfying revisit to not just one, but two excellent seasons from years past. Creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy confirms the news himself on Twitter.
“The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year…because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER,” Murphy tweeted today. Notice that in addition to revealing the theme for Season 8, Murphy also says the new episodes will be returning in September of this year, rather than sometime in 2019.
So far, three cast members are also confirmed to be joining the season, according to Variety. This includes Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates. All three have had prior roles in other American Horror Story seasons. Paulson and Peters both had roles in Murder House and Coven, so it will be interesting to see how Murphy ties these seasons together. Bates, on the other hand, was not in Murder House, but did have a memorable role on Coven.
I think a crossover idea is a pretty good idea for the next season, especially for those of us who’ve been watching since the start. Here at Horror Geek Life, we’ll be watching out for more updates on Season 8 of American Horror Story, so be sure to check back!
