Blumhouse / Universal

After absolutely murdering the box office, David Gordon Green’s Halloween is now the highest-grossing slasher movie of all time. Satisfying for old and new fans of the franchise alike, the film is regarded by many as one of the best the long-running film series has to offer. With so many people going back to the theater to catch repeated viewing of the flick, it’s needless to say fans are eager to know when the film comes out on home video. That question has been answered today, as Universal has given Halloween a digital release date for Dec. 28, 2018 and a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on Jan. 15, 2019.

A direct sequel to the original 1978 film, the movie ignores every other film in the franchise. It tells the story of how survivor Laurie Strode has been deeply affected by that heinous Halloween night four decades ago, living in fear ever since. Featuring a surprise return to the series by Jamie Lee Curtis after her character was unceremoniously killed off in Halloween: Resurrection, the movie was an instant hit with horror fans, and plans for a sequel are already in the works.
