We’ve got bad news today for fans of Channel Zero on Syfy, as it looks like the network is calling it quits on the show. Based on popular “creepypasta” stories from the internet, each season of the show had a different plot. Its last season, “The Dream Door,” is based on Charlotte Bywater’s story “Hidden Door.” Now, it looks like that’s going to be a wrap for the series, as Syfy has axed the show after four seasons.

In a post on Instagram, creator Nick Antosca has confirmed the the show’s cancellation, expressing his disappointment. Still, he teases that we could still see the show potentially continue somewhere else, with new stories to be told.

“After 4 seasons, Channel Zero is no more at SYFY. I loved making this show and I would have loved to do more… but I can’t complain too much about doing 4 stories I loved with people who I loved working with.

I’m deeply grateful for this experience. Especially to everybody who watched and talked about and wrote about the show. There are stories we didn’t get to tell and creatures you didn’t get to see, but still might.”

Antosca also says how the first three seasons of Channel Zero are currently available on Shudder, with Season 4 set to arrive on the streaming service soon. For anyone late to the Channel Zero party, binging the series on Shudder is a good way to get caught up.

Syfy’s choice to cancel the series likely stems from ratings too low for the network’s liking. It’s reportedly one of the lowest-performing shows on Syfy. Despite these low numbers, however, the show itself has been met with critical praise. Whether or not we see it continue elsewhere, the first four seasons are definitely worth checking out.
