ghostbusters 3 teaser

Every fan of the Ghostbusters franchise is no doubt incredibly excited about the recent update on Ghostbusters 3. The movie is officially a go at Sony Pictures, with a premiere set for Summer 2020. Production will begin on the movie within the next few months, but its first teaser trailer has already made its way online courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. You can take a look at it in the tweet below!

In the video, not much is revealed about the cast or the plot of the upcoming sequel. What is shown is a very familiar vehicle with that trademark Ghostbusters emblem on the back. The Summer 2020 release date is also confirmed in the teaser. It may not show much, but simply put, if you’re a fan of the original movies, there’s still more than enough here to get you excited for the new movie. Just a few days ago, it would have been hard to believe that Ghostbusters 3 was ever going to actually happen, so with the project officially greenlit by Sony, we can now truly anticipate its release.

Back in November, Dan Aykroyd spoke about a screenplay for another Ghostbusters sequel currently in the works. It’s not clear if this project with Reitman directing is using the same script Aykroyd was referring to. None of the original actors have yet been officially signed on to the movie yet either, but it seems likely we’ll see at least a few familiar faces. All three surviving lead actors from the original movie had cameo spots in the 2016 reboot from Paul Feig, after all.

With production set to begin over the coming months, updates on the sequel should be incoming. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the original Ghostbusters to all be involved in some capacity, as the new film is set in the same universe as the original movies. Stay tuned for more, as we’ll be keeping a close eye on its production.
