Is Hollywood running out of ideas? Sometimes, it sure seems that way, given the exorbitant number of reboots and sequels we see hitting the big screen every year. With remakes like Child’s Play and sequels like It: Chapter Two on the horizon, it’s clear the trend isn’t dying down anytime soon. Still, there are plenty of original horror films set to arrive in 2019, and you’ll want to watch out for these ten…

Directed by: Alexandre Aja
Starring: Kaya Scodelario, Barry Pepper, and Ross Anderson
Release date: August 23, 2019
Do you like eco-horror films? Crawl needs to be on your radar. Directed by the talented Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Other Side of the Door), the movie will be part disaster movie and part eco-horror. That might sound bizarre at first, but the concept is really intriguing. Add the legendary Sam Raimi on board as a producer, and you can definitely go ahead and sign us up.
Full details on the plot aren’t yet known. The story will focus on a woman trying to rescue her father during a Category 5 hurricane. Unfortunately, she winds up trapped in a flood house with some of the most dangerous sea animals the ocean water around Florida has to offer. Can you imagine trying to simultaneously survive a hurricane and killer crocodiles?
When we consider how much Syfy has beaten down eco-horror with intenionally cheesy movies about giant sea creatures, we’re excited to see a more “serious” film in the sub-genre finally hitting theaters.
Synopsis: During a hurricane, a young woman finds herself trapped beneath a flooding house, fighting for her life against a pack of savage alligators.
