Can you believe it has taken all of these years for a studio to greenlight a film based onĀ Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark? The popular book trilogy was responsible for scarring the minds of so many ’80s and ’90s kids growing up. Written by Alvin Schwartz with utterly horrifying illustrations from artist Stephen Gammell, the books offered various original stories and folklore of a terrifying nature.
With Guillermo del Toro producing, we’re really stoked for the feature film adaptation. Apparently a single narrative will include many different stories from the books. The sneak peek trailers have confirmed some of the classic tales will be making an appearance on the big screen. Better yet, the imagery is very faithful to Gammell’s illustrations, which is certainly the biggest thing we were hoping for.
The poster alone has us sold. Harold the evil scarecrow looks exactly as he does in the original books – which is to say, he’s freaky as hell.
Synopsis:Ā Teens band together to solve the mystery of macabre deaths in their small town.
