NECA has just revealed an action figure 2-pack of Chunk and Sloth from The Goonies, and they sure do look awesome. The toy company has been really impressing people with their latest reveals at this year’s Toy Fair. Some of the amazing reveals we’ve seen come from them so far include new figures for Roy Burns from Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning, Michael Myers from Halloween II and Halloween (2018), and both versions of Pennywise the Dancing Clown from the It movie and 1990 mini-series.
Their latest reveal of Chunk and Sloth is nothing short of amazing. The fully posable figures look exactly how they did in the movie when the two characters became unlikely friends. Sloth stand at 8″ tall, coming with a cloth Superman T-shirt with pants and suspenders, pirate hat, and mini-sword. Chunk is a bit shorter at 5″ tall, and he comes with his own pirate hat with the little statue of David shown in the movie.
The Goonies was released in 1985 from director Richard Donner, who first became famous after directing Superman. Perhaps that would explain the choice to have Sloth wearing a Superman shirt in the film. The movie is about a group of youths on a quest to find One-Eyed Willy’s fortune while evading a group of criminals hunting for the same prize. In the film, Jeff Cohen played Chunk, while John Matuszak played Sloth. The young cast also included Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, Josh Brolin, and Sean Astin.
