‘Halloween H20’: 10 Things You May Not Know

Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later may no longer exist in the current Halloween continuity, but many franchise fans still remember the flick fondly. Let’s revisit the 1998 slasher sequel with these ten killer facts about the film!

3Scream scribe Kevin Williamson provided uncredited rewrites

Officially, Robert Zappia and Matt Greenburg are credited as the film’s screenplay writers, with the sole credit for the story going to Zappia. However, it’s not uncommon for writers to work on feature film screenplays in an uncredited capacity. Such was the case with Halloween H20, as Kevin Williamson had written a draft of his own for the movie, with many of his contributions making it into the final product.

Known for writing teen horror films like I Know What You Did Last SummerThe Faculty, and multiple Scream movies, Williamson was seen as a hot commodity following the success of the first Scream film. He was approached by producers to work on the movie when it first went into production, and while not directly credited, Williamson had provided plenty of assistance in shaping the story.

Williamson’s draft of the script went through some changes of its own before the film began shooting. However, some of his key changes were used in the movie. This includes improving the dialogue for the teenage characters and coming up with the ending that was ultimately shot for the film
