The Frog Brothers will be replaced with the Frog Sisters in The CW’s TV series adaptation of The Lost Boys, and the vampire slaying duo has now been officially cast. According to Deadline, the Frog Sisters will consist of Liza and Cassie, described as sharp, cool, and lightly goth. Similar to the Frog Brothers in the original film, the Frog Sisters are “teenage locals who work at Santa Carla’s comic-book store. Until Sam arrives, they think they’re the only ones aware of the darkness in this town.”

Liza will be played by Cheyenne Haynes (Camping), while Cassie will be played by Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs). Also joining the cast is Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone), who will be playing Mollie. A vampire, Mollie “has become her maker’s rival for leadership of the vampire gang. She travels in a small pack with her eternally 8-year-old son, Laddie, and a guardian, Hiram, who’s there to make sure she doesn’t get into too much trouble.”

Several other cast members have already been confirmed for the show. This includes Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey as Michael Emerson, Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) as David, Kiele Sanchez (Kingdom) as Lucy, and Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) as Stella. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has also signed on to direct the pilot episode, using a script written by Heather Mitchell.

Anytime a classic film gets the reboot treatment, fans are going to be apprehensive. There’s obviously some concern from The Lost Boys fans about the new series failing to compare to the original film. However, The CW has proven themselves capable of producing quality television, and maybe it will be a good thing to reinvent the story for a new audience. Topping the original is a tall order, but, hopefully, it will still be entertaining in its own right. Stay tuned for more updates.
