Iconic horror star Adrienne Barbeau has been cast for a role in DC Universe’s upcoming live-action Swamp Thing TV series. Barbeau, who starred as Alice Cable in the original 1982 movie alongside Dick Durock as Swamp Thing, announced her casting via Twitter. As Barbeau didn’t appear in Jim Wynorski’s 1989 sequel The Return of Swamp Thing, this will be her first time back to the swamp since Wes Craven’s original film.
Barbeau’s role isn’t yet clear, but to know that she’s involved is very exciting for fans of the original movie. The pilot episode will be directed by executive producer Len Wiseman, using a script written by exec producers Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. The series will be set in its own universe, and not be connected to the other live-action DC shows on the DC Universe service.
