Legendary actor Robert Englund still does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but an Indiegogo campaign has been launched to finally make it happen. Of course, we all know Englund best for portraying Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and all of its sequels. He has had many other memorable roles in other films and TV projects, and is a highly respected and accomplished actor. Englund is undoubtedly deserving of this honor, and hopefully this cause is successful in getting him his star.
“Robert’s Nomination will be submitted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee by May 20th for the May 31st deadline and Committee selections will take place in late June. The star ceremony date is TBD after an agreement is made with the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee. Funds for this campaign will be used to cover the installment and maintenance fee with the Hollywood Walk of fame, associated fees and taxes and contribution gifts. Additional funds will be used to produce a documentary covering the journey to get Robert Englund a Star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as documenting the Star ceremony.”
Englund’s next project will take him to the small screen, as it was recently reported he snagged a hosting gig at the Travel Channel. The horror legend will be hosting the series Shadows of History, which will explore some of the strangest news stories to be found in American history. Various experts and historians will be assisting Englund as he gets to the bottom of the most bizarre happenings to be reported in actual newspapers.
There’s no official word on if A Nightmare on Elm Street will be heading back to theaters for either a sequel or a new remake. Englund has suggested he’d be open to portraying the role one more time, and franchise star Heather Langenkamp has done so as well. For longtime fans of the series, it would certainly be awesome to see Englund terrorize filmgoers on the big screen once more.
