New ‘Jurassic Park’ LEGO Set Includes 6 Classic Characters

LEGO

LEGO has revealed their upcoming Jurassic Park: T. Rex Rampage playset, coming with a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the opening gate to Jurassic Park, and some exclusive LEGO characters from the film. Best of all, one of the characters to be included is the shirtless version of Dr. Ian Malcolm in the original movie, played by the one and only Jeff Goldblum. The image of the character without a shirt as been made into something of a meme and has only gotten more iconic in recent years, likely leading to this decision to include that version Malcolm.

The other characters to be included are owner John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ray Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson), and Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight). A baby dinosaur minifigure will also be packaged with them to go with the fully posable T. Rex. Also worked into the functional opening gate are some other rooms to represent key scenes from the movie. The T. Rex Rampage set comes with 3,120 pieces, so putting everything together is going to take some time. It officially releases on June 19, and the playset will cost you $249.99.

Jurassic Park was originally released in theaters in 1993, telling the story of a billionaire turning an island into an honest-to-God dinosaur zoo. Predictably, things go terribly wrong, and the prehistoric creatures all soon break out of their enclosures. Many deaths ensue, but one character to survive was Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm. The character would return in the sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park and again in the more recent film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It’s certainly nice to see Malcolm again in movies, but what we all really needed obviously was to have him in (shirtless) LEGO form.
