SDCC 2019: WWE and ‘Ghostbusters’ Crossover Figures Revealed

Mattel

The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived: Ghostbusters and WWE crossover toys have just been revealed. The unveiling was made by Mattel at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), showcasing a new set of WWE figures given the Ghostbusters makeover treatment. While it’s not exactly clear who asked for these, it’s noted the figures are being released to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the cult classic film.

There are four WWE legends coming in the getup worn by the Ghostbusters. This includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels (who’s for some reason wearing a baseball cap). The Undertaker is also available as one of the figures, though it appears he’s meant to resemble a ghost, as he’s purple in color with a slime-green title belt.

We’re not going to lie. This is certainly a peculiar crossover. However, it’s not the first venture into unusual WWE crossovers for Mattel. Previously, the company released WWE figures inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, depicting various legends as they would appear as one of the TMNT. While admittedly bizarre, the end result turned out more awesome than you might expect.

It’s not yet clear exactly when these guys will be hitting store shelves, but if you’ve been dying to have WWE wrestlers as Ghostbusters action figures in your life, be sure to be on the lookout! In the meantime, you can watch WWE on the WWE Network and catch the next Ghostbusters movie when it hits theaters on July 10, 2020.
