San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2019 is happening now, and tons of awesome new reveals are coming out of the event. Of course, the Dark Knight is getting some love too, as Warner Bros. has unveiled an upcoming Blu-ray box set for Batman Beyond: The Complete Series. Also included in the set is the Batman Beyond movie Return of the Joker. Additionally, the Blu-ray set comes with an exclusive Funko Pop! figure and a set of groovy lenticular art cards.
Batman Beyond takes a different approach as an animated Batman series, as it presents a new Caped Crusader as the savior of Gotham. Set many years in the future, an elderly Bruce Wayne now serves as a mentor to a new, younger Batman named Terry McGinnis. Despite featuring someone new under the mask, the series became a cult favorite for many Batman fans. These days, some people are calling for a live-action Batman Begins movie with Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, though that probably won’t happen anytime soon with Robert Pattinson’s The Batman on the way.
To see just how much better Batman Beyond is going to look on this new Blu-ray set, IGN has released an awesome video showing the differences in a side-by-side comparison. There’s no denying that the series will look far more gorgeous this time around, and the video is a nice tease of what to expect. You can check it out below.
Courtesy of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Batman Beyond: The Complete Series will release on Digital HD beginning on Oct. 15, 2019. The Blu-ray release will follow soon after on Oct. 29. We’ll see if there are any other awesome Batman reveals to come out of SDCC, but without a doubt, it’s going to be hard for DC to top this one.
