Who’s the bigger threat for Autobots: Decepticons or Terminators? That’s what we’ll be finding out next year in the upcoming crossover comic book series Transformers vs. The Terminator. From IDW Publishing, the comic is exactly as it sounds, depicting an “epic crossover that revisits the concepts of alien invasion and time-traveling resistance fighters…but twists them in unexpected ways.”
Transformers vs. The Terminator is written by David Mariotte, John Barber, and Tom Waltz, with artwork provided by Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye artist Alex Milne. Created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics, the series will consist of four issues and will debut digitally and in comic book stores in March 2020. The first issue will also be released in multiple editions, for the collectors out there to make a note of.
“I still remember the visceral thrill and terror of my first viewing of The Terminator, and while I’ve seen it a hundred times since then, it still gets my pulse running,” says IDW editor in chief John Barber in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve worked on Transformers a lot over the years, and the opportunity to combine these two mechanistic universes together to see who comes out on top (while working alongside Tom, David and my old collaborator Alex, no less) — well, it’s way too exciting a chance to pass up.”

Previously in the the world of comic books (and video games}, we have previously seen The Terminator taking on RoboCop, which was interesting in its own way. However, a battle between Skynet’s machines and the Transformers is certainly a first, and this comic definitely will be something for fans of both franchises to check out. Look for it to arrive in March 2020.
