The Walking Dead is soon bringing its zombie-filled post-apocalyptic world to Virtual Reality for the upcoming game The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and if the trailer is any indication, the game actually looks pretty badass. As a VR game, the title will be released next month and to play it will require VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, or the Valve Index.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is set in New Orleans, which is not a location which has not yet been explored in the comic books or TV series. This also makes it rather unlikely any familiar characters from the other mediums will be appearing in the game, as the story seems to be focusing on all-new walker-slayers. Making difficult, morally-ambiguous decisions also seems to play a factor in the gameplay, and better yet, the VR aspect will do more to integrate fans further into the Walking Dead universe than ever before.
Video games based on The Walking Dead have been hit or miss with gamers, as we’ve seen everything on the spectrum from the widely-praised Telltale adventure series to the universally-panned first person shooter The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (which I personally feel is underrated). We’ll see how it plays, but the trailer for Saints & Sinners certainly looks pretty badass, and this seems like it could be a must-have title for gamers into The Walking Dead.
You can pre-order The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners now at Steam ahead of the game’s release date of Jan. 23, 2020, and you can also check out the official trailer below!
