In the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are using humor to encourage folks to stay home by channeling their 2004 zombie comedy movie Shaun of the Dead. In the Edgar Wright-directed film, Pegg and Frost star as two slackers fighting for survival at the start of a zombie apocalypse. Along with other survivors, there’s a scene in the movie when the two hole up in the local pub while they attempt to wait out the outbreak outside.

Due to the highly-contagious nature of the coronavirus, pubs and other establishments have been closing as social distancing has been highly encouraged by government officials, scientists, and healthcare professionals. As many celebrities have also been recently getting diagnosed with the virus in recent weeks, some are speaking out about COVID-19 safety and particularly urging people to stay home and maintain their social distance for the next several weeks.

Given the comparisons between the coronavirus and a zombie outbreak, Pegg and Frost saw an opportunity to essentially rewrite their Shaun of the Dead dialogue to encourage each other to stay home rather than meeting up at the pub. “Do not go to The Winchester, the pub is out,” Pegg pleads to Frost over the phone. “Especially if it’s closed, remember what happened the last time?” Shaun adds, prompting Frost to mimic his zombified self from the end of Shaun of the Dead, complete with a video game controller.

Though humorous, the parody video does have a positive message which all of us should be adhering to. “If you can, stay at home, have a cup of tea, and wait for all this to blow over,” Pegg says in the clip. You can watch the parody video below.
