It was reported on Tuesday that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) was cast as Bo Katan in season two of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Sackhoff is quite familiar with the character as she previously voiced Katan in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Although not commented on by Disney, SlashFilm confirms that Sackhoff filmed her parts back in February, before the mass shutdowns due to COVID-19.

Minor season one spoilers ahead.

Bo Katan is a Mandalorian and a lieutenant in Death Watch, who we saw near the end of The Mandalorian season one rescuing a young Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) from a siege on his homeworld. In Rebels, Bo Katan was given the Darksaber by Sabine Wren and was the last known person to wield the Darksaber, which is now in the possession of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) as shown in the last moments of season one.

Bo Katan’s role in the second season is unknown, but it’s possible we could see her come to take back the Darksaber from Gideon, or perhaps she’ll appear in flashbacks showing how she lost the weapon in the first place and how Gideon was able to retrieve it. Bo Katan’s appearance could also serve as a catalyst for Sabine Wren’s return, as she also has deep connections to the Darksaber. Who knows? All we know is that this season is shaping up to be incredible and I can’t wait.

Season two of The Mandalorian has finished filming and is in the post-production stage. Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed earlier this week that as of right now there is no need to delay season two, and it’s still slated to premiere later this year in October.

Are you excited to see Bo Katan finally make the leap to live-action? Let us know!
