Word has come in that Halloween Kills has been delayed until October 2021, and that no doubt feels like a knife in the gut for longtime Halloween fans who’ve been looking forward to the sequel. Fortunately, John Carpenter has helped to soften the blow with the release of a new Halloween Kills teaser, giving fans a peek at the film ahead of its new release date next year. Yeah, it’s perhaps even more of a tease now that we have to wait a year longer to see the movie, but it’s still pretty exciting to watch the video. You can take a look at it below.

Reprising their roles as the Strode family women in Halloween (2018), Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak are all set to return for Halloween Kills. The film will also bring back James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle to play Michael Myers. Anthony Michael Hall will also play the new Tommy Doyle, joining returning franchise cast members Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, and Nancy Stephens. John Carpenter has also teased a high body count for the upcoming sequel, so chances are, not all of these actors will see their characters make it to the end this time.

Halloween Kills is now slated to premiere in theaters on Oct. 20, 2021. Presumably, that also means Halloween Ends will also be pushed back — unless Universal decides to give us two Halloween movies in one month next year. If you ask me, that would be totally fine. In any case, it’s going to be a little while longer before we see Michael Myers back on the big screen. Let’s just hope the wait turns out to be worth it.
