Daryl and Carol might not be the only fan favorites from The Walking Dead to get their own upcoming spinoff, as Lauren Cohan has teased spinoff possibilities for Maggie. While Cohan was previously written out of the series in the earlier episodes of season 9, she is set to return in the show’s remaining episodes for season 10. She will also be featured as a series regular for the eleventh and final season of the long-running zombie drama, with The Walking Dead officially bowing out with its series finale in 2022.

Speaking about her role on the series during an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Cohan said that knowing that the end was coming was “bittersweet,” pointing out that the series will still be giving the fans plenty of content to look forward to with an extended final season.

“We still have two past years worth of stuff to shoot, so it’s still going to be on television for a significant period,” Cohan explains.

“I love this approach of knowing there’s an endpoint, so I kind of got excited when we first announced it… We’re so lucky we’ve been going so long, and it’s so exciting to say, ‘Okay, let’s all key in for this final season and watch it together.'”

Cohan then goes on to tease the possibility of a Maggie spinoff.

“People are so hungry for our whole universe still that it’s sort of exciting because there will be spinoff possibilities… I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that yet.”

A Cohan-led spinoff series has yet to be officially announced by AMC, but multiple other spinoffs are already in the works. After The Walking Dead ends in 2022, a spinoff following Daryl and Carol will also begin production alongside a separate anthology series. These are in addition to the ongoing spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead and the upcoming limited series The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

The Walking Dead returns on Oct. 4 on AMC.
