MAD Magazine has revealed the cover for their next issue, marked No. 16 of the rebooted MAD and dated Dec. 2020. The new cover promotes what’s called the “MAD Midnight Horror Movie Marathon,” and some artwork from Bob Lizarraga depicts many genre fan favorites at the theater with Alfred E. Neuman. This includes Annabelle, Billy the Saw puppet, Slappy from Goosebumps, the Zuni doll from Trilogy of Terror, and even a Buddi Chucky doll from 2019’s Child’s Play.

The magazine Unveiled the new cover in a tweet on their official Twitter account. The caption reads: “When the weather outside is frightful, and we’re on the brink of survival, stay in with MAD! Our midnight horror movie marathon issue will comfort you with classic fights and monstrous delights!”
For decades, MAD Magazine has been known for its amusing and eye-catching cover art featured on its issues. This is partly what secured the magazine a spot on grocery store shelves for so many years. From politicians to movie stars and every famous person in between, nobody was immune to getting spoofed by the popular humor magazine. Of course, each issues was filled with artwork poking fun at anything and everyone, but the magazine covers are also often used to satirize anything from pop culture that is popular at the time.
Horror fans may have always especially enjoyed their horror-themed parody covers, which are collectible items for fans of the genre. Last year, the Dec. 2019 cover depicted Alfred E. Neuman suited up as Pennywise the clown, emerging from a particularly disgusting toilet. The year before, the twin sisters from The Shining served as the subject to be spoofed by the magazine, as the pair stood holding hands with each bearing the face of Alfred.
