Stephen Lang Wraps Filming on ‘Don’t Breathe 2’

Stephen Lang has wrapped shooting on Don’t Breathe 2, the upcoming sequel to the 2016 horror hit Don’t Breathe. “I’m wrapped! A splendidly rugged shoot. Thank you Belgrade. All health and safety protocols observed to the letter. Well done all!” Lang posted on Twitter, including a photo of some Don’t Breathe 2 merchandise.

This news means that the Don’t Breathe sequel is likely to arrive in 2021, coinciding with prior reports that it was gunning for a Fall 2021 release. It was also reported earlier this year that filming had begun with a new director, with Rodo Sayagues stepping in for Fede Alvarez as the director. Sayagues and Alvarez co-wrote the original movie. Sayagues also worked with Alvarez as a writer for 2013’s Evil Dead reboot, but this will be his debut as a feature film director.

The first Don’t Breathe was a big box office sensation, scoring nearly $160 million in box office profits against a budget of less than $10 million. With these kinds of profits, it was clear pretty quickly that Sony would want to keep the money coming by making a sequel. Soon after the original was released, Alvarez announced that a sequel was already in the works. Ever since, Don’t Breathe 2 has served as one of the most anticipated releases for horror fans.

In the first film, Lang played a blind man living alone who seems to be the perfect target for a trio of thieves looking for an easy score. They get more than they bargained for when they enter the home and find themselves trapped inside with a man hunting them down in complete darkness, seeking them out by the sounds of their breath.

A trio of reckless thieves breaks into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re wrong.
