In the past week, Lucasfilm Games burst out of the gate running as they shared information that paints a bright picture for the future of their video games division. Among the announcements is an Indiana Jones game being developed by Bethesda and Machine Games (Wolfenstein: Youngblood), and a Ubisoft massive open-world Star Wars game, thus ending EA’s exclusivity of the license. Very good news.

They went further by saying that there is going to be a ton of news regarding Star Wars games soon. What those could be, we haven’t a clue, but here are some ideas we wouldn’t say no to.

1Knights of the Old Republic 3
(Along With Remasters of 1 & 2)

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords | Disney

You can’t talk about great Star Wars games and not mention Knights of the Old Republic. Both games were incredible and way ahead of their time.

The Knights of the Old Republic games were open-world role-playing games where you took on the role of a young Republic recruit and slowly made your way through the game, becoming a Jedi and becoming insanely powerful. The game featured turn-based combat and one of the best twists I’ve ever experienced.

Along with a remaster of Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a Knights of the Old Republic III announcement would make me happier than Chewbacca on Life Day! (Psst, also bring Old Republic to consoles, somehow.)

2An Open-World Mandalorian Game

The Mandalorian Chapter 18

Mandalorians have been cool ever since they were conceived in the Star Wars mythos, but the Mandalorian series has brought even wider acclaim to the creed of warriors. That’s why now is a perfect time to capitalize on the hype and announce a Mandalorian video game.

I’m not saying it has to be (or even should be) based on the series, as Mandalorians have a VAST history within the Star Wars universe. A game that delves deeper into the intricacies of the Mandalorian creed would be incredible. Give it to Sucker Punch Productions, and we might just get something amazing.

3An Uncanceled Star Wars 1313

Star Wars 1313 | LucasArts

1313 was a canceled Star Wars game from LucasArts that was unveiled at E3 back in 2012. The game would have put the player in the boots of Boba Fett as he navigated Coruscant’s Level 1313; the planet’s own hive of scum and villainy. As the game progressed, the idea was to have Boba Fett begin to investigate and uncover a criminal conspiracy on the planet’s underworld levels.

1313 was even on track to receive an M-Rating. But then, in 2013, Disney came along and shuttered LucasArts and canceled all projects, including Star Wars: 1313. With the new Lucasfilm Games umbrella, seeing this game return is a definite possibility and one that I’m sure a lot of people would love to see.

4A Battlefield-Like FPS Featuring Clones

Star Wars: The Clone Wars | Disney+

A game where you start out as a Clone cadet or recruit and then work your way up the ranks to Arc Trooper in a Battlefield-type experience would be a unique aspect we’ve never seen in a Star Wars game. It would be a game devoid of Jedi combat and lightsabers. Just a gritty war-game experience set in the Star Wars mythos.

This would work great with an M-Rating, and it’d play best as an FPS.

5A Turn-Based Strategy Game

Star Wars: The Clone Wars | Disney+

While I’m not a fan of turn-based strategy games personally, there’s no denying that there’s a huge market for the genre. A TBS set within the Star Wars universe could be incredible. An XCOM-like title where you control battalions of Clones through campaigns set during the Clone Wars era.

A developer could take it further and include not just a Clone campaign but maybe even a CIS campaign during the Clone Wars. There could be a Rebels/Imperial campaign spanning the Original Trilogy era as well. The possibilities are endless.
