We recently announced that Rob Zombie is overseeing the construction on the original Munsters house for his upcoming feature The Munsters. Now, the filmmaker shared more of his vision, which is a lot bigger than expected. As production is currently ongoing in Budapest, Zombie has confirmed the build of not only 1313 Mockingbird Lane, but Mockingbird Heights itself.
Zombie shared an image of the “future home of Mockingbird Lane,” which is currently a dirt road, along with a 3D animated video showing what it will be. The caption reads, “We aren’t just building the Munsters house. We are building all of Mockingbird Heights! It’s a big job, but somebody’s got to do it.”

A few commenters on the post have asked what will become of the location post-filming, but that has yet to be discussed. Imagine being able to visit Mockingbird Heights, if you ever find yourself in Budapest, of course. Although there has been some worry or doubt on the direction Rob Zombie will take the beloved classic, there is no denying that this is a passion project for the director, who is seemingly taking great care with the details.
Other recent tidbits shared on Zombie’s official Instagram include Grandpa’s wig and Herman and Lily’s bedtime wardrobe designs.

I wonder if he’s going to tell people that the movie is for Universal 1440 Entertainment and will be direct to streaming on Peacock. Will be an interesting reaction from the fans that’s for sure. lol
