Horizon Forbidden West is set 1000 years in Earth’s future, after a global catastrophe ends life as we knew it. The game tells the story of how humans are no longer the dominant species, as they must coexist with the new alpha species – the machines. In Forbidden West, set 6 months after the events of Zero Dawn, a mysterious and deadly blight is running rampant through the world and it’s up to Aloy, with the help of her friends, to put a stop to it. To do so, they head west and search the ruins of the old world to uncover secrets to help her in her journey.

While no confirmed release date was ever given, it was highly speculated that the game would be releasing by the end of 2021. Today, during the Gamescom Opening Night stream, we learned this is no longer the case. Horizon Forbidden West now has a concrete release date of February 18th, 2022, and will still be coming to the PlayStation 4 alongside the PlayStation 5.
