During Disney+ Day, the official Disney+ Twitter account gave fans a first look at Hocus Pocus 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the beloved 1993 Halloween film. The three main stars, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, will return as the witchy Sanderson Sisters. The film is set to release in Fall 2022.
The premise of Hocus Pocus 2 is that “three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.”

Alongside Midler, Parker, and Najimy, the cast will also feature Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Doug Jones, Juju Brenner, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, and Nina Kitchen. The film will be directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses) and written by Jen D’Angelo (TV’s Workaholics).
In 2018, the novel Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel was written to serve as a sequel. The plot takes place twenty-five years after the original film, as “Max and Allison’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don’t quite go as planned, it’s a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches’ latest vile scheme.”
