Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow announced via his personal Twitter account that Jurassic World: Dominion, the much-anticipated third film in the recent Jurassic World trilogy, has completed the post-production process.

Trevorrow has said that the third film is “an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world next summer.” Even with the mixed reviews of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), which Trevorrow stepped away from when director J.A. Bayona took the reins, fans of the franchise got excited again when Trevorrow signed back on. The director also announced the returns of original characters Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) for the third film. Jurassic World: Dominion will also be bringing the Jurassic World alumni Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard back into the mix.

In an interview with Collider, Trevorrow didn’t go into much detail about the story itself, but said, “You’re telling two parallel stories that are just driving closer and closer together, and you understand that, and you start to understand how they’re going to intersect, and then they do. But that’s not a traditional way to structure a movie. And so, the way that we have been building it and moving things around and trying to figure it out, it’s just much less of a gimme, I think, than that it would be if you were following the traditional screenplay structure, where everybody knows what happens on page twelve.”

In his tweet, Trevorrow thanked the team at Skywalker sound for putting the tweaks on the “last bit of reverb on the last roar.” Now, we just play the waiting game as Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Dominion is set to hit theaters on June 10th, 2022. In the meantime, if you haven’t peeped Trevorrow’s fantastic Jurassic World short Battle at Big Rock, which takes place after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, you can check that out here.
