Alex Garland, the filmmaker behind the elevated sci-fi flicks Ex Machina and Annihilation, as well as the writer behind Sunshine and 28 Days Later has teamed up with A24 for his newest project, a new psychological horror film titled Men.
Though not a ton of information came with the trailer, the synopsis seems to revolve around Harper, played by Jessie Buckely (I’m Thinking of Ending Things, The Lost Daughter) and her decision to travel to the English countryside after the apparent suicide of her ex-husband. Upon arriving to the small town, various men start to stalk, chase, and haunt her, all sporting the same face (Rory Kinnear).

A24 has been continuing to make a name for themselves in the horror genre, already producing Ti West’s X this year and the upcoming Nekrokosm from filmmaker Panos Cosmatos. We’re not exactly sure where the story is headed, but knowing Garland’s knack for writing bleak stories with even bleaker endings, we can suspect this will fit in perfectly with his previous works, as he dives into the creepily suffocating vibes of sexual harassment and toxic masculinity that the trailer promises for the film.
Men will release on May 20th, 2022, from A24.
