Rom Zombie's The Munsters Trailer
Universal Pictures

Rob Zombie has released a new official The Munsters trailer. This new movie is a reboot of the classic comedy series of the same name. After recently wrapping filming, Zombie has been working on post-production, with plans for a September release.

The new trailer reveals plot details and a plethora of new footage; you can watch it below.

As shown in the trailer, the plot of The Munsters will see Lily (Sheri Moon Zombie) looking for the perfect husband, which she finds in a reanimated corpse named Herman Munster (Jeff Daniel Phillips). The love between the two quickly blossoms as Lily and Herman go on spooky dates and encounter the other kooky personalities around town. The trailer has a vibe reminiscent of the original sitcom, with Zombie putting his own spin on the material to keep things fresh.

The Munsters is a beloved sitcom, and some fans are leery about the comedy series getting rebooted by a horror filmmaker. As Grandpa actor Dan Roebuck previously told us here at Horror Geek Life in an exclusive interview, Zombie may, in fact, be the perfect person to reboot this story.

He’s a lifelong fan of The Munsters. He has ensured that the reboot is as faithful as possible to the source material, including having the set used for the house constructed with blueprints that look exactly like the original.

“That house should give you an idea of the detail with which this brilliant director is approaching the material,” Roebuck told us. “It’s as close to the original house it could ever be. That street used to be on the Universal backlot, but it was moved to make way for Amblin Entertainment. The house has been moved and then built over numerous times; he started from scratch and it was done perfectly, just perfection.”

The Munsters will be released in September 2022. An exact date has yet to be announced.
