Some of the best horror tales are told in short story form, which is much better suited as segments in a horror anthology film. Horror anthologies have made for some of the most popular movies in the genre. Creepshow (1982), Trick ‘r Treat (2007), and even the more recent Shudder original The Mortuary Collection (2019) have all given horror fans small glimpses into different tales, just long enough for a fun scare.
This year, a new holiday-themed horror anthology titled Nightmare at Precinct 84 will be released. The film is directed and written by Samuel Gonzalez Jr., a co-director for 2021’s well-received horror-thriller The Retaliators. Gigi Gustin, who also stars in the film, helped co-write the movie.
Nightmare at Precinct 84 will be divided into four segments with a wraparound story. Gonzalez Jr., Matthew Hersh, Chris Lofing, and Travis Cluff, the filmmakers behind 2015’s The Gallows, will direct the segments.
The main wraparound will star Jill Awbrey and Meredith Thomas, and the segments will be led by Jenna Kanell (Terrifier, Renfield), Justin Miles (The Walking Dead, Swamp Thing), and Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators). Most notably, horror legend Bill Moseley will also appear. Moseley is most known for his horror roles as Otis in Rob Zombie’s Firefly Trilogy and Chop-Top in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

According to Yahoo, the synopsis reads: “Set on a stormy night on Christmas Eve, a small-town female sheriff who secretly is a serial killer gets a visit from a mysterious woman who tells four bizarre stories. The first is about a small boy who has a terrifying encounter with the local ice cream truck. The second is about a young girl who takes up a phone sex operator job to pass the time, but a certain caller has other intentions. The third is about two women who discover the strange reality behind a tiny town they are trapped in, and the fourth is about a man who makes a promise with haunting repercussions.”
Produced by Samuel Gonzalez Jr. and Matthew Hersh, there is no official release date for Nightmare at Precinct 84. However, we can probably expect it to arrive before or around the holiday season of 2023.
