Sad news is coming in as it’s been announced that George P. Wilbur has passed away. To horror fans, Wilbur is very well known for playing Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, sharing the role with Tom Morga. He would later reprise the role for the sixth movie, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, though A. Michael Lerner was featured in some scenes under the mask due to reshoots. It was fellow Michael Myers actor Christopher Durand (Halloween H20) who shared with a post on Facebook that Wilbur had died on Wednesday, Feb. 3, to break the news.

“George P. Wilbur passed away last night,” Durand wrote. “George, you were a class act and well loved. You will be missed. May you Rest in Peace.”

Halloween 6 screenwriter Daniel Farrands added, “Very sad to hear of George’s passing. He was such a kind soul and a beloved member of the Halloween family. RIP, George P. Wilbur.”

Wilbur had spent four decades in show business, primarily working as a stuntman. He has also had on-screen roles in various films, which include titles like Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Pennies from Heaven, Max Dugan Returns, Firestarter, The Running Man, Ghostbusters II, and American Muscle. Wilbur has also appeared in TV shows like Mission: Impossible, The Six Million Dollar Man, Simon & Simon, Magnum, P.I., and Days of Our Lives.

Family Guy also used Wilbur for a key episode that aired in 2012. The episode “Tom Tucker: The Man and His Dream” reveals that TV reporter Tom Tucker is secretly George P. Wilbur, having changed his identity following the release of Halloween 4. Footage of Wilbur in the role of Michael Myers is featured in the episode.

He will be missed by those who knew him best and horror fans everywhere, as he was a favorite at fan conventions. Rest in peace, George P. Wilbur, as your legacy lives on.
