Game publisher Gun Media has announced that their license for Friday the 13th: The Game expires at the end of this year. Once this happens, the game will no longer be for sale and will only be playable through 2024, as the Friday the 13th: The Game servers will close.
In a post on social media, Gun stated:
“The time has come. Our license for Friday the 13th will expire on December 31, 2023. On that date, Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for sale, both physically and digitally.
The game will, however, continue to function through at least December 31, 2024, if you already own it. At this time, we’ve made the decision to reduce the price to $4.99 for the base game and $0.99 for each piece of DLC content. We will continue to offer the title and content at that price point right up until it is removed from digital/physical storefronts on December 31, 2023.
We would like to thank our community for the dedication they’ve shown to Friday the 13th: The Game and Gun Interactive as a whole, and we are happy the game will live on a while longer and continue to be enjoyed by anyone owning the game already.”

The asymmetrical multiplayer survival game was developed by IllFonic and released in 2017. It allows one player to take on the role of slasher Jason Voorhees — or Friday the 13th: A New Beginning copycat killer Roy Burns — while other players try to survive. Search maps of iconic Friday the 13th locations, such as Camp Crystal Lake, Higgins Haven, and the Jarvis House.
While there are a few characters from the films, like Friday the 13th Part 3‘s Shelly Finkelstein and Tommy Jarvis, others are classic stereotypes often found in horror films. This includes the stoner, the flirty girl, the jock, the rocker girl, the nerd, the preppy guy, and so on. Each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages.
If you want to put more time in, be sure to do so before the Friday the 13th: The Game servers stop functioning.
