Universal Pictures and Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie will stream exclusively on Peacock on August 3rd. Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, and Charles Martinet.
The movie tells the story of two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the “let’s-a go” attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere. We open with the Super Mario Brothers reckoning with their struggling plumbing business and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through Mushroom Kingdom.
Through their journey, we meet a cast of familiar, lovable characters, ultimately uniting together to defeat the power-hungry villain, Bowser (Jack Black). The Super Mario Bros. Movie takes what millions of gamers worldwide have loved for thirty-five years and levels it up to a new and breathtaking cinematic experience.

The film was released on Digitial in May, with the 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD release following in June. The Super Mario Bros. Movie surpassed the $1 billion milestone, becoming the “highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time,” according to Forbes. The post-credits scene hinted at a sequel starring Yoshi, and given the film’s success, a sequel seems like a no-brainer.
