After years of uncertainty regarding the Borderlands movie adaptation, many of our questions have been answered. Lionsgate has now released a poster, a trailer, a release date, and some gorgeous stills showing our favorite vault hunters in live-action glory.
The Borderlands adaptation was announced four years ago when it was confirmed that Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds, Hostel, Thanksgiving) was tapped to direct the project. Since then, an all-star cast has been rounding out the announcements, including Jamie Lee Curtis (Knives Out, the Halloween franchise) as Tannis, Cate Blanchett (Don’t Look Up, The Lord of the Rings trilogy) as Lilith, Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie, 65) as Tiny Tina, Kevin Hart (the Jumanji franchise, The Secret Life of Pets) as Roland, and Jack Black (the Jumanji franchise, The Super Mario Bros. Movie) as Claptrap.
The Borderlands trailer, released on Wednesday, gave us our first looks at the cast as their video game characters. With many comparing the trailer’s vibes to a Marvel film, we can’t help but get excited. Jack Black was an excellent choice as the fan-favorite Claptrap, while Ariana Greenblatt was made to play Tiny Tina. And, of course, Cate Blanchett looks fantastic as Lilith.
