Hail to the king, baby! According to the legendary Bruce Campbell, theĀ Evil Dead franchise is getting an all-new video game, which is expected to be released within a year. Of course, Campbell shies away from offering full details on the game but does reveal that it will be a “fully immersive” experience.
Campbell also doesn’t say if he’ll be voicing Ash in this new Evil Dead game, but it seems likely, as he’s still open to voicing him in video game projects.
Per TV Insider:
“We’ll see more Evil Dead, that’s for sure. There is an Evil Dead video game out. A fully immersiveĀ video gameĀ probably within a year. I’m not sure about the day. There will be variations of that. There won’t be the original Ash anymore. That guy is done.”
Recently, Campbell teased some sort ofĀ Evil Dead project to be released in September, leading to fan speculation that it could pertain to a new video game. It turned out to be the paperback release of his novelĀ Hail to the Chin, with new exclusive content added to reflect on his time playing Ash onĀ Ash vs. Evil Dead. This left the status of the rumoredĀ Evil Dead game in the air, so it’s nice to get an official update from Campbell.

This year, Ash also made it into the popular horror gameĀ Dead by Daylight as a playable survivor, joining other horror characters like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Leatherface. As awesome as that was to see, an actualĀ Evil Dead video game would be most groovy. Because it’s being described as fully immersive, it might have a “Choose Your Own Adventure” format like titles we’ve seen from Telltale Games (R.I.P.).
If we’re lucky, the game will pick up whereĀ Ash vs. Evil Dead left off, allowing the franchise to see Ash slaying Deadites once again — even if it’s in digital form.
E3 is coming next month, so hopefully, we’ll find out more info then. Stay tuned!
