Bruce Campbell will be portraying Evil Dead franchise star Ash Williams once again for the multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight. In a new character trailer confirming Ash’s involvement in the popular video game, Campbell personally appears to promote his involvement in the game. Sitting in a recording studio where he’s presumably recording voiceover work for the character, Campbell tells viewers they will be able to personally be Ash soon enough.
“Good news – you get to play Ash as a survivor in the hit video game Dead by Daylight,” Campbell explains in the video. “Be Ash and survive!” By the end of the trailer, Campbell jokingly calls for the payment of tequila he was promised by the devs, and we wouldn’t expect anything less from the B-movie legend. Unfortunately for him, he’s given a dull flashlight instead, resulting in great disappointment for the Evil Dead star.
Gameplay footage from the trailer shows players how Ash will actually look in the game. The new DLC will introduce Ash as he appeared in the STARZ series Ash vs Evil Dead, which ran for three wonderful seasons. It would have been really awesome to see Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) coming into the game as well, but I suppose beggars can’t be choosers. Seeing Ash coming into the game is certainly exciting enough, although I’m not exactly thrilled to see the character killed off during the game. I guess that just makes the stakes even higher.
Of course, this is far from the first horror franchise to be brought into Dead by Daylight. Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Jigsaw (Saw), Michael Myers (Halloween), and Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) have all previously been added as well. This means we can finally play out fantasy battles between Ash Williams and some of the horror genre’s most notorious villains.
