Whist E3 is going off, there are masses of great things. We’ve covered the news, ranging from Assassins Creed: Origins, to Microsoft’s new console. All in all, it’s another great year for gaming. Elsewhere in the gaming world, Atari just pulled a massive tease.
There have been the Atari Flashbacks, which allowed us to relive past glories of our youth. Now, there is something mysterious in the pipeline called the Atari Box. The teaser release shows exactly that. The only thing it gives away is the trademark wood effect finish.
I can’t imagine that Atari will be playing with the big hitters, most likely a nostalgia-filled experience. However, no one has any clue. The Atari Box website is extremely bare at the moment. Even the links for Media, Jobs and Dev only open your mail client. From signing up to their mailing list, their auto response confirms that a new bit of hardware is coming by noting “We hope you’ll love what we are building as much as we do.”
Part of me is hoping that Atari is coming back with a brilliant new console. We’ll keep you posted once more information is known.
