After its SXSW 2018 world premiere, A Quiet Place took the horror genre and box office by storm, earning $328.5 million with an estimated $20 million budget. Considering its success, and the notion that all hits must have a follow-up, it was no surprise when a sequel was announced back in April. Details were sparse at the time, including if director and star of the film, John Krasinski, would be involved.

The film’s producer, Andrew Form, recently talked with Collider and confirmed that Krasinski would be involved somehow. He said:

“Oh [Krasinski is] definitely involved. We’re lucky on this one. I’ve had movies where the studio says to you, ‘Here’s your date. Let’s go!’ and on this one we’re not rushing anything, which is amazing. So we’re gonna take our time, we’re gonna figure out where to go, but there is no rush on it and we’re just starting to talk about it. We’re figuring out what everyone’s involvement’s gonna be and what the actual next movie’s gonna be. The first one is so special to us that we really want to take our time with this and not rush anything.”

Krasinski did a brilliant job with the first film, which still holds firm at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and received a perfect score from yours truly. It is great to hear that he will not only be back for the second film, but that the studio is not rushing to release the sequel just to ride on the first film’s success. A Quiet Place did so many things right, it would be a shame to see a cheap follow-up.

A Quiet Place starred Krasinski and his real life wife, Emily Blunt, and followed a family living in a post-apocalyptic world where silence is the key to survival. The world has been ravaged by monstrous creatures who hunt by sound. Despite its PG-13 rating, the film was survival horror at its best.

A Quiet Place is now available on Digital and will release on Blu-ray and DVD on July 10th. Check out the trailer below and our interview with the writers behind the film here.
