Some of the most intriguing horror games are the ones which have never been released. Let’s cry a little inside as we go through ten of the most promising horror video games that we’ll never, ever get to play.
7InSane (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
InSane was meant to be a survival horror game collaboration between developer THQ and director Guillermo del Toro. Originally announced in 2010, the project was intended to have an extensive development, with plans to potentially release the game in 2014. Describing what to expect from InSane, del Toro said, “I want to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality. THQ and Volition are equally excited to make this vision of a completely new game universe into a reality.”
There isn’t much else known about the game besides del Toro’s involvement and his intentions for it to be the first of a trilogy. Unfortunately, THQ announced that they were ceasing production on InSane in 2012, with the rights reverting back to del Toro. Although the famous filmmaker has the freedom to pursue the title with a new developer, he has made no efforts to do so. With over six years passing since InSane‘s demise, it’s a safe bet the game will never see the light of day.
