It has been a long time coming, but Borderlands 3 is really real. At PAX East 2019, Gearbox released a teaser trailer and then, just a day later, Gearbox gave eager fans a trailer that is over three minutes long and full of beauty and mayhem. As a long time fan of the series, this writer is super excited, as it seems like an eternity since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launched in 2014.
Judging from the Borderlands 3 trailer, the cel-shading looks better then ever. There are four new Vault Hunters to play with and, of course, lots and lots of guns…and guns with LEGS! The trailer also showed off some new villains, as well as some old friends, including Rhys from Tales From The Borderlands, as well as an older Tiny Tina, and the always lovable Clap-Trap.

As of now, no confirmed release date has been given, but it should be announced next week. Given Gearbox’s track record, expect the looting to commence around October. Hopefully. Gearbox is still rebounding after the not-so-good releases of Battleborn and Aliens: Colonial Marines. So, let’s hope Borderlands 3 is the game to help with that.
In related Pax East 2019 news, Gearbox will be releasing the long-awaited remaster of the original Borderlands in a Game Of The Year Edition due out April 3rd for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Fans will get a free update for visual improvements to Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on Xbox One and PS4. Those who own the PC version will be getting the enhancements for free as well.
