Scream Factory has announced a new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release for the sci-fi horror filmĀ Event Horizon, and it’s going to come with many exclusive new bonus features. Starring Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill, the cult classic was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and released in 1997. Unfortunately, much of the deleted footage from the original cut has been lost over time, though the folks at Scream Factory are working to restore as much unseen footage from the production of the film as possible.
As revealed by Scream Factory on Facebook, theĀ Event Horizon Blu-ray is set to be released in North America on Sept. 29, but this date is currently subject to change. The Blu-ray will feature new artwork from artist Joel Robinson with a reverse side featuring the film’s original theatrical artwork. The Blu-ray will be guaranteed to include a slipcover during its first three months of release.

Several new extras are also promised, though they’re going to be revealed at a later date. What has been revealed is that the new home video release will include a 4K scan ofĀ Event Horizon. Scream Factory also notes they’re looking into including any additional footage not found on previous DVD releases, and they’re welcoming “any leads” if anyone with a connection to the film’s production just might happen to have access to the long-lost footage.
If you order yourĀ Event Horizon straight from ShoutFactory.com, you’ll get an exclusive 18″ by 24″ poster. While we need to wait to see what all new bonuses will be included, you can take a look at the Blu-ray’s artwork below.
