4The creatures in Signs are actually demons
To this day, M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs seems to be one of the director’s most well-regarded movies. The film was about an extra-terrestrial invasion which was foiled after water was discovered to be the weakness of the aliens. Despite its success, many critics lambasted the film for suggesting that such a technologically-advanced alien race would invade a planet that’s mostly made of something so harmful to them. Also, why don’t they have any weapons, or any kind of clothing or protective suits?
According to one fan theory, this is because the aliens in the film are actually demons from Hell. They’re not coming to Earth to conquer the planet, but rather to prey upon the humans themselves. This explains why the glasses of water in the Hess home are so damaging to the creatures, as it’s all been blessed and is actually holy water. They certainly look like aliens, and the crop circles also seem to suggest as much, but it’s not a stretch of the imagination to consider that they could be demons.
