On the 25th anniversary of the cult classic horror flick, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare is getting a fan film follow-up. Called Dylan’s New Nightmare, the project is a collaborations between Cecil Laird of The Horror Show Channel and horror fan filmmakers Vincente DiSanti (Never Hike Alone & Never Hike in the Snow) and Rene Rivas (The Spirit of Haddonfield). Better yet, it will feature the return of Miko Hughes in the role of Dylan Porter, who was Heather Langenkamp’s young son in the original movie from Wes Craven.

Dylan’s New Nightmare will be an “unofficial sequel” to the 1994 film, taking place 25 years after the events of Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. This time, Dylan is “faced with the return of the evil entity that took his mother from him all those years ago.” Voice actor Dave Mcrae is also attached to portray the fan film’s version of Freddy Krueger. The given synopsis is kind of a bummer as it implies the death of Langenkamp, but it’s definitely going to be interesting to see Hughes back in the part.

As of now, the crowdfunding campaign for the project is now live, offering backers a variety of perks for their part in bringing the fan film to life. This includes everything from Blu-ray and VHS copies of the film to dinosaur plush dolls and Freddy Krueger gloves and sweaters. You can find out more information and get in on some of those perks by heading on over to Indiegogo. A teaser trailer has also been released for the project, along with a pretty rad poster, both of which you can check out below.
