Doom Eternal made a return to E3 this year, with TONS of info about the sequel to 2016’s critically praised first-person shooter.
More of the single-player story and setting was revealed at the conference, with executive producer Marty Stratton and creative director Hugo Martin stating that the player would be traveling “from Heaven to Hell, to the Sentinel Homeworld and beyond.” Keen-eyed observers will also notice UAC personnel, who appear to be working to restore a severely damaged Samuel Hayden in the story trailer.
We also get glimpses of some previously unseen characters, including a glowing green wolf, as well as an important-looking ethereal figure on a throne, and a bevy of new demons to rip and tear to your heart’s content.
A newly introduced multiplayer variant, “Battlemode,” pits a team of two “unleashed” player-controlled demons against one “fully loaded” player-controlled Slayer in what is being touted as a “Skill vs. Strategy” match. Featured in the trailer is a Slayer pitted against a Revenant and Mancubus, each with a set of skills, including what appears to be the ability to spawn lesser demons to assist in the fray.

Most importantly (to me, anyway) is finally knowing that Doom Eternal is slated for release on November 22, 2019. Alongside its standard $60 version, there are also pre-orders available for a Deluxe Edition, containing a “Year One” pass for the first two pieces of DLC, as well as an exclusive skin for the Doom Slayer and a Classic Weapon Sound Pack, which features “Throwback sound effects for all your Doom Eternal guns.”

There’s also a Collector’s Edition that features everything in the Deluxe Edition, as well as a Steelbook Case, a custom lithograph, a lore book, a lossless-audio soundtrack for both Doom Eternal and Doom 2016, and a human-sized, wearable Doom Slayer helmet for $200.
Doom Eternal will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
