Friday’s big Summer Games Fest kick-off show began with the anticipated announcement of LEGO Horizon Adventures. This idea is pretty out there, and we’re not sure who asked for it, but the game looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Based on Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series, LEGO Horizon Adventures offers a light-hearted story that combines the characters, settings, and visuals of the Sony-exclusive games with the silly and whacky fun of LEGO games.
In a distant future, the land is made of LEGO bricks and incredible dinosaur-like machines roam the Earth. Aloy, the game’s leading hero, is found in a cave as a baby and raised by a grizzled huntsman called Rost, who teaches her the way of the wilds. One day, Aloy embarks on a quest to discover her true destiny.
Guided by a thousand-year-old hologram of a scientist called Elisabet, Aloy must confront Helis, the leader of a group of sunworshippers who bow to an Ancient Evil shrouded in mystery. There’s much more in store for Aloy and her friends as their adventure sends them across the tallest mountains and deepest cauldrons — all beautifully recreated in LEGO elements.

The game can be played solo or with a friend, as it features online and couch co-op. There will be plenty of customization options, including the ability to decorate Mother’s Heart with fun ornaments and buildings that players can unlock and unlockable outfits you can use to dress up your friends.
LEGO Horizon Adventures is slated for its release holiday season later this year and will be available on PlayStation 5, but also has day one releases on Nintendo Switch and PC.
